ACT NOW - Contribution Request to Assist GIAA in Amending Iowa State Code
WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH THE IREC AND LICENSING?
GIAA is working to amend provisions of the Iowa Code related to licensed real estate brokers, by seeking a more common-sense approach to the regulation of non-licensed individuals. Specifically, GIAA seeks an amendment to the Iowa Code to permit non-licensed individuals, to carry out certain everyday leasing activities, such as answering questions related to the building or unit, showing perspective tenants open units, collecting rent, and coordinating the execution of lease documents, so long as the non-licensed individual is employed by a licensed broker and is acting within the non-licensed individual’s job duties with the broker. Additionally, the proposed GIAA amendment expands one current exception to the licensure requirement related to owner-managed real estate transactions. This part of the amendment would permit an owner of a limited liability company, for example, to engage in activities on behalf of the limited liability company, which would otherwise require licensure.
All contributions collected will be directly used for amending this Iowa Code. Anything unused will be earmarked for future legislative concerns.
If you do not see a contribution amount you would like to take action with, please e-mail staff at ae@thegiaa.com to ensure GIAA can send you an invoice with the amount you would like to contribute.
