Breaking News - Disparate Impact: On Wednesday, President Trump issued an executive order eliminating disparate impact liability as the industry knows it. The order “eliminates the use of disparate-impact liability in all contexts to the maximum degree possible to avoid violating the Constitution, Federal civil rights laws, and basic American ideals.” Read more.

Regulatory Wins: Earlier this year, the National Apartment Association (NAA) and the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) sent a letter to the White House requesting a thorough review of 32 federal programs, rules and regulations at 10 different agencies – the ultimate goal: To increase housing supply, lower costs and improve housing affordability. USDA Notice Rule: The Rural Housing Service (RHS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued its final rule to amend regulations for the federal Multi-Family Housing (MFH) Direct Loans and Grants Programs, requiring Sections 515, 514 and 516 borrowers to provide their residents with at least 30 days’ notice prior to a lease termination or eviction action for nonpayment of rent.
